After years of nagging my husband about using a coaster on our black table, in a really nasty karmic twist of fate, I was the one that ended up leaving this big, ugly ring.
I did it after placing a hot bowl of oatmeal on the top without using a place mat. (That’s what I get for eating oatmeal.) I tried every Internet remedy I could find, including rubbing it with toothpaste and mayonnaise, to no avail. Because I am too lazy to sand and re-finish the whole table, I have been covering it with a table cloth ever since. It wasn’t until scouring Pinterest (it really is changing my life) that I got the idea to just re-do the top of the table, which will be much easier to sand or paint.
I need some advice on which project to tackle.
Here are some of my ideas:
A zinc-top table

A poem-topped table (how COOL?)

A map table top

I think I am leaning toward the last idea, but using a really cool, vintage map of Virginia with Ben, and my hometown’s labeled, along with other fun places we’ve lived and visited. I think it would be a neat learning tool for AJH, too!
What do you guys think?

I like the map idea too. I think the chalkboard table would be super annoying to eat on after a while. I also really love the number table. So cute.
I love the poem!!!
the poem is you, though i dont know if it changes having to use coasters 🙂
